MEDIA CAN CARRY LOKAYUKTA REPORTS;

Lokayukta health director Dr.R.balasubramanyam said that media can publish the Lokayukta reports by securing it through Information act.

Addressing ‘Spandana’ programme orgnaised by Journalists association, Virajpet yesterday, he stated that press and Lokayukta should act together to cleanse the society.

He disclosed that though the then chief minister Kumarswamy tried to amend law to equip Lokayukta with more power, the files are now catching dust at Governors office. The delay in empowering Lokayukta is holding it back from taking action against corrupt IAS and IFS officers, he said. He alerted public by stating that corruption in state is crossing its limit and it could be rooted out only with the joint effort of public and Lokayukta.

He said that Lokayukta will directly enquire the cases of individuals who draw more than rupees ten thousand and above salary. His deputy will take up the cases of individuals drawing below one thousand. He also said that government and NGO offices should work with transparency and display boards.

FREE EYE CAMP HELD;

A free eye camp was held at Gonicoppal yesterday and more than seventy operations were held. Health director of Lokayukta, Dr. Balasubramanyam inaugurated the camp.

Vivekananda Youth movement, Lions and Ratary, taluk health departments and other organizations had jointly organized the programme. Dr.Chandrashekar of Vivekananda Youth movement, Dr.Prashanth, Dr.Yatiraj was present.

Meanwhile, members of the press club lodged a complaint with the organizers alleging that a health assistant was collecting money for spectacles, eventhough the camp was supposed to be free.
