ATTACKED AND MURDERED: TWO ARRESTED

Madikeri Dec. 9 Past enimity ended in the murder of a middle aged person at Shirangala village near Kushalnagar.S.C.Sannappa (55) was attacked by Gurumurthy and Thammaiah of the same village. They mercilessly killed him and tried to hide the body near a canal. When some villagers watched they absconded from the spot. Kushalnagar Police have arrested the accused on receiving complaint from Deceased Sannappa’s daughter Kumari.

IGNORING PARENTS IS OFFENCE: JUDGE ANALYSE

Madikeri Dec. 9 The matured children who neglect and ignore the parents during their old age are punishable under new law-analyzed Kodagu district and session judge R.Venkatesh. He was speaking in a legal seminar organized by various organizations at Somwarpet.The children who hesitate to take care of their old age parents are punishable for three months imprisonment under the new law- he told.

Any parents who complaint against the descendents neglecting them and hesitate to maintain them is immediately considered by the judiciary. Such descendents will be immediately put behind bars for three months. No writ petition is allowed in the court against such judgments-Judge venkatesh explained.

Many offences occur due to ignorance of law. The people having annual income below Rs. 50 thousand are eligible to take free legal aid from the free legal aid cell. They have to produce an affidavit mentioning their income range-Venkatesh informed. The supreme court has instructed to clear off the old cases on priority basis and meantime,. The new cases become delayed – he opined. But, if the necessary witnesses available the clearance of cases will be fast – he told.

Informing about the national level crimes he gave statistics. Per every 17 second one crime is being reported. per every 3 minute atrocity on woman ,every 77 minute dowry death, every 29 minute once rape, every 17 minutes once one murder, within 9 minutes gap one looting case, for every 2 hour robbery; cheating case is for every 10 minutes, theft for 2 minutes, in a span of 92 minutes atrocity on tribes is being reported in national level- said Venkatesh.

KODAGU NEGLECTED BY REPRSENTATIVES:CONGRESS

Madikeri Dec. 9 Kodagu is neglected and the development work is standstill due to the inactiveness of Kodagu BJP ex M.L.A’s and the influential M.L.C-alleged Kodagu District congress president Veena Achaiah in a press conference here.

She called it a joke by commenting Ex. Chief Minister Yediyurappa’s recent statement at Madikeri that the Jamma problem will be solved if BJP gains power. During the coalition Govt. they could not do anything for the district-she criticized. Even, the ex. Chief minister Kumarswamy while speaking in a function at Bangalore Kodava Samaj regretted for not deeming Kodagu issues; This is shameful to him Veena opined.

T.P.Ramesh the KPCC member informed that the coalition Govt. had released only Rs. 6.5 crore for the estimated rain damge of Rs. 50 crore in Kodagu.The Govt. gave priority to Shimoga, Hassan and Ramnagar and they completely forgot Kodagu-Ramesh alleged. Ex. Minister Suma Vasanth said that M.L.C Arun Machaiah can get the necessary informations needed by the officials and he has no power to call the meetings-she suggested. She demanded the proper investigation about the corruption charges against the Kodava academy president. The academy committee should be immediately dissolved- she urged.
