VICTORY MARCH BY HINDU ORGANISATIONS;Madikeri December 7, 2007 Bhajans and processions by Hindu organizations all over Kodagu marked the fourteenth year of Shilanyas at Ram Mandir at Ayodhya. Members held Bhajans at temples and took out procession in the main streets of Madikeri, Somwarpet and Kushalnagar. Procession was held under the leadership of VHP secretary C.N.Somesh at Madikeri. K.S.padmanabh of Hindu jagarana vedike led the team at Somwarpet. Yuva Morcha opresident K.G.manu and others led the procession at Somwarpet. Members of Vishwa Hinsu parishadh, RSS, Bhajaranga Dal, BJP and other organizations were present. TWO FROM KODAGU TO BE HONOURED;Two persons from Kodagu would be honored during Sahitya Sammelan to be held at Udupi for their service in Kannada literature. Addressing scribes here, president of Kodagu Kannada Sahitya Parishadh, Edurkala Shankaranarayana Bhat and Mandepanda Geetha Mandanna would be honored during the sammelan to be held between 12 and 15 December. Shankaranarayana Bhat has authored books on the history of Talacauvery and Hindu religion, while Geetha Mandanna has authored few kannada novels. Ramesh invited Kannadigas to attend the conference in large number and said that few poets and writers from Kodagu are given chances to take part in the deliberations of Sammelan. He informed that a stall will be opened by Kodagu sahitya sammelan during the conference and books authored by authors and poets from here would be displayed for sale. Secretary Bharati Ramesh and treasurer Achamaiah were present. PROTEST AT SIDDAPUR CONTINUES;Protest at Siddapur continued on the second day yesterday and demand to appoint doctors and provide facility to Primary health centre received more strength. Auto Drivers and owners association, spearheading the protest was firm on getting their demands fulfilled and sent back officials and politicians who went their with their empty promises. More organizations and people extended their support to the protest and autorikshaws remained off road for the second day, causing inconvenience. Former minister Suma Vasanth, MLC Arun Machaiah, Virajpet Taluk Panchayath president Sarita Poonacha, vice president Rani narayana, Dr.yathiraj, ZP member Humayun and others tried to pacify the protestors by promising to fulfil their denmands. The protestors openly stated that they do not trust them and they are fed up of listening to empty promises. We need action on the spot, they stressed. A meeting to chal;k out the next step of action was held in the evening. It was decided to continue the protest till their demands are fulfilled. |
