HOME GUARDS TO FORM ‘QUICK RESPONSE FORCE’;Madikeri December 2, 2007 State Home guards will form a ‘quick response force’ in Bangalore to combate emergency situations. IGP and Additional Commissioner of Home Guards, Khaleel Ul Rehaman told scribes here yesterday that new shape would be given to Home guard units in the state and service would be extracted from them in more pockets. Rehaman paid a surprise visit to Home Guards office here and said that the cadets would be pressed to service during natural calamities and any other eventualities. He disclosed that they will be given a Swaraj Mazda vehicle for transportation in all the districts. To address the problem of Kodagu, Home Guards will be equipped with two power boats to operate during flood situation during monsoon, he disclosed. They are being trained in combating unforeseen calamities and natural disasters, he said. He also said that a national level awareness programme about terrorism is being organized in Bangalore during February 2008. Commandant O.S.Chingappa was present. ALLEGATIONS AGAINST ACADEMY STRENGTHEN;Adding to the list of allegations against Kodava academy, president of Kodava Takkh Janangakarada okkuta, Addanda cariappa stated that money was also drawn by forging the name of former president of Kodava Academy, bacharaniyanda Appanna. Addressing scribes here, he said that more than rupees fifty lakhs is misappropriated by the present committee led by its chairperson Dotty Poovaiah. Bacharaniyanda Appanna, who was also present, displayed fake vouchers being created by the academy. An voucher of rupees two hundred being drawn by him was changed to rupees 750. Cariappa said that several such vouchers are changed and huge amount is misappropriated. |
