GOWDA WILL NOT ALLOW YEDI TO HOLD REIGNS;

Former minister M.M.nanaiah told here yesterday that former Prime Minister H.D.Devegowda will not allow yediyurappa to become the Chief Minister.

Addressing party workers at the birth anniversary celebrations of rajiv Gandhi and Devaraje Urs, M.M.Nanaiah stated that Gowda will play the same tricks as he did with Dharam Singh, who had to step down as a chief minister due to the latter’s tricks.

Hinting that the elections are in the corner, he appealed to congress workers to prepare for it. Prime minister Manmohan Singh has also mentioned about it, he said.

KPCC member T.P.Ramesh spoke on the occasion and said that Devaraje Urs has enrolled youth as voters at the age of 18 and he was the voice of poor and down trodden. KPCC member K.P.Chandrakala, DCC president Veena Achaiah and others spoke on the occasion.

TAHASILDAR, DFO AND DDPI COME UNDER ATTACK;

Tahasildar, DFO and DDPI have come under attack at the Taluk Panchayath, KDP meeting yesterday.

Addressing the meeting here, MLA K.G.Bopaiah instructed the TP officer Motaiah to issue notice to the trio for their negligence in carrying out their dutie.

Social Forestry officer came under attack as he informed the meeting that Tribes are given a door and a window at a cost of rupees 7.5 thousand and rupees 10 thousand under two different heads. MLA K.G.Bopaiah and members bombarded the officials and enquired about the quotation. MLA insisted on issuing notice and seek explanation. The meeting suspected misappropriation in the above scheme.

The meeting sought explanation about the distribution of CRC and other revenue matters from the Tahasildar. An officer was posted in his place and he failed to give explanation. Bopaiah said that even the Deputy Commissioner had insisted on Tahasildar to provide information’s and he has ignored it.

He also said that the tahasildar has failed to vacate encroachment of government land by a resort at second Monnageri. The resort has encroached land and cut trees. Environment is also disturbed by it. The Deputy Commissioner and MLA had inspected the place and tahasildar was asked to initiate immediate action. But he is ignoring the order, he commented and said that a letter would be written to government to initiate action against tahasildar, he said.

The education department failed to provide information about repairing of schools, appointment of teachers etc. The DDPI has sent his subordinate to attend the meeting and the meeting decided to issue him a notice.

EXCISE department disclosed that eighteen cases of illegal sale of arrack was traced and sellers are booked. MLA urged the department to catch the suppliers and stop the supply from its source.

THIEF ARRESTED ;FOREIGNERS STOLEN GOODS SEIZED

Madikeri Aug. 21 a thief who stole goods belonging to foreigners has been arrested by Madikeri Rural Police today.

A couple Devid Love day and Emma Oberg from London stayed in a homestay in Shanthi estate, Mekeri village near here. The Homestay belong to the father of Col. Vasanth who recently died in an attack by terrorists at Jammu Kashmir border.

The thief Hamsa planned and watched the movements of these couple near homestay. On 18th night at about 10.30 P.M the couple moved to dining hall for dinner. Swiftly acting Hamsa broke open the lock of the cottage where the couple stayed and stole a Camera, mobile and cash worth Rs. 1.41 lakhs and also Passport and some other valuable documents belonging to the foreign couple were also lifted by him.

The Madikeri rural police investigated using dog squad, finger print and succeeded in dragging the accused at Maldare village today. They seized camera. Cash Rs. 13 thousand and mobile. The accused had burnt the passport. However other documents are seized by the police.

ZP CHIEF JOINS JDS;

Zilla Panchayath president H.S.Ashok has joined Janatha dal S in the presence of Chief Minister Kumarswamy on Monday.

Chief Minister announced about his joining the party and said that Ashok had been expressing his desire to join the party, if the chief minister visits Kodagu. “I was unable to visit Kodagu since 18 months and I apologize with the people”, said chief minister in kannada during his speech.

Ashok was a staunch congress man and won the election as a rebel since the party denied him the ticket. He was offered to join BJP as he became the president of the Zilla Panchayath with their support.
