KODAGU IS INSEPARATE PART OF KARNATAKA

Kodagu is inseparate part of Karnataka. The present coalition Govt. has responded to the pulse of Kodagu people. We have withdrawn the controversial Jamma Bane circulars issued by the revenue department. Shortly we withdraw the forest department controversial circular to safeguard the interest of Kodagu people-said H.D.Kumaraswamy, Chief Minister at Kudige, Harangi and Kushalnagar-Kodagu district. He was speaking in separate functions and disclosed his opinion with the press after inaugurating overall development project costing Rs.231 crores in Kodagu.

He assured that he will visit Kodagu again during September and intends to stay in villages. He assured the permanent solution to many burning problems in kodagu prevailed since long years. The present Govt. will fulfill the demands and will not allow thinking about separate Kodagu state-he added.9 Engineering colleges were commenced this year in Karnataka. The budget provides Rs. 256 crores. Kushalnagar polytechnic in Kodagu is also upgraded to Engineering college with the sanctions of Rs. 30 crores he said.

Referring to the elephant menace, he disclosed that a separate meeting of all the westernghat region representatives will be called and the problem will be sorted out. The Sainik school project is already started at Kudige at the sanctioned amount of Rs. 6.5 crores. Kodagu will get the needed on priority basis- he told.

The PWD and power minister H.D.Revanna who took personal interest in upgrading the Kudige milk dairy at a cost of Rs. 3 crores also spoke. He said Kodagu-Sampaje highway will be developed and the work will be commenced immediately. Rs.104 crore is released for the project. In addition Rs.85 crore will be released for Virajpet-Makutta-Siddapur and Konanur road improvements .Rs. 54 crores is sanctioned for kodagu rural electrification through chescom and the line will be upgraded from 33 kVa to 66 Kva between Kushalnagar and Madikeri- he assured

Chief Minister kumaraswamy and the PWD Minister Revanna rendered offerings in Harangi reservoir,participated in the promoted dairy inauguration and both addressed the gathering in GMP school, Kushalnagar.

The Chief Minister in Kushalnagar area inaugurated the overall Rs. 231 crore various projects today. The projects pertain to the development works in Kodagu district. To avoid the time consumption all the projects were formally inaugurated in one place.

Dairy development, Chescom projects, PWD road developments, educational, Govt. office buildings, bridges ,animal husbandry works are the main projects inaugurated by the Chief minister

The M.L.As B.A.Jeevijay, K,.G.Bopaiah, H.D.Basavaraju, M.L.C Arun Machaiah, Z.P.president H.S.Ashok were present. The BJP announced its’ boycott for the function. Today is the scheduled day throughout the nation for forming BJP booth committees. If this is the main reason, some BJP office bearers stated that their leaders Ramachandra Gowda who is the district incharge minister and D.H,.Shankaramurthy ,education minister are ignored by the Govt. missionary. All these representatives absent today.

MUDDY SPORTS IN MIDST OF DRIZZILING

The yearly muddy sport in Kaggodlu village near here attracted mass viewers on 18th evening.

The state level sports was conducted in the paddy fields of late C.D.Bopaiah. The fields were left uncultivated only to use for the annual sports, which draw huge spectators from various parts of Kodagu and other districts.

The commencement of the competitions also welcomed by rain drizzling. However the interested viewers does not left the place. Infact they encouraged the competitors with “go,pull,common,Hurryup” and so on words.

Nehru Youth centre, the district youth service department, Youth hostel association of India and Thaluk youth association jointly organized this venture.

The youths ran through the muddy fields with their experience background. Kuttanda Kuttappa Cariappa of Madapur gained the open running men’s championship. He overtook the last year’s hat Rick champion Manikanta of Madikeri and has to be satisfied with third place. Deshkodi Ashok Kushalappa of Thannimani village won second place.

In the women’s section Aramanamada Dechamma of Gonikoppal;,Padmashree Satynarayana of Kushalnagar and Chennapanda Divya ponnappa of kalur obtained first, second and third place respectively.

In the Men’s tug of war muddy competitions Nalnad Planters club of Napoklu became winners and White team of Virajpet became runners up. In the women’s tug of war Monnangeri friends team of Galibeedu were winners and Kannika Parameshwari team of Mutharmudi were the runners up.

In the muddy Volleball competitions 27 teams have participated.Ganapathi friends team of Gonikoppal got first place while Chowrira family team of Hodavada obtained second place.The sports meet was inaugurated by the District Police S.P.Thrilokchandra and was attended by D.S.Madappa, the ex. M.L.A ;Thaluk Panchayath president Thalur Kishor Kumar, Z,P.Member Susheela Lokaiah and others.
