GROWERS TO MEET PRIME MINISTER;Madikeri September 28, 2006 A delegation of The state growers association has left for Delhi to meet prime minister Manmohan Singh to brief him about the problems being faced by them. Kechanda Shivappa of growers association, Virajpet told in a press meet that a delegation led by state president Attikatte Jagannath, secretary Dr.Pradeep, Kattimandaiah and others are in Delhi. He said that the nationalized Banks have not honored the direction of central government to waive off principal and interest amount on their loans and the same will be complained to the Prime Minister. The central government had directed all Banks to waive off loan amounts of coffee growers, last year and the same is not being implemented to the dissatisfaction of the growers. FALLS TO DEATH;An estate worker yesterday died falling from a tree at south kodagu. A native of nanjangud, Uppara Shetty Sidda, 38, was working in the estate of one Ketolira Ponnappa at Kolakeri near Napoklu. He had a fall from the tree as he was cutting a branch on top. A seriously injured Upparashetty Sidda was shifted to Napoklu hospital for first aid. Yet, on the way to Madikeri hospital, he breathed his last. A case has been registered at Napoklu police station. MP INSISTS ON FORMATION OF ROADS;Member of the Parliament, Sadananda Gowda has insisted the district administration to take up stalled works of formation of new roads. Reviewing the rural development works meeting yesterday at old assembly hall, Gowda said that Kadamakal, Ghattighat, Subramanya, Bhagamandala , Todikana road works should be take up immediately. Formation of Kadamakal road will give an easy access to Subrahmanya , cutting short three fourth of the distance and provide road to many villages. The road works were stalled as the forest department has raised objection stating that it violates forest law. Sadananda Gowda stated that the law objects to the formation of new roads only and works began before 1980 could be carried out. He said that the above roads were sanctioned before that and the work had also begun long ago. The Deputy Commissioner Subodh yadav, Zilla panchayth president Ashok, CEO Sundar naik and others were present. |
