Madikeri September 20, 2006

Gadduge, the Tombs of Kodagu King and his queen would be rid of encroachments shortly.

President of the Gadduge administrative committee, Ravi Kushalappa told this correspondent that the committee has decided to clear 19 acres of land surrounded by encroachers. He disclosed that about 32 families have built houses in the area belonging to Gadduge and Deputy Commissioner had already issued notice to the encroachers to clear the land. However the move was slowd down after some time.

Basappa said that the High court has expressed its resentment about the encroachment and the place would be turned into a tourist spot with basic facilities.

A plan of rupees 27.50 lakh is already sanctioned by the tourism department for its development and a meeting is organized to discuss the future action and plans on this 23rd at Gadduge, he said.

SCHOOL INMATES MOLESTED BY STAFF;

In a bizarre incident, a cook molesting two inmates of a residential school of Sc St at Thithimathi has come to light.

Two wailing inmates of the school complained before the delegation of Taluk panchayath that the cook by name Ravi had been molesting them every night since two months and was threatening them not to disclose it to others. The officials in charge of the hostel came to know of the fact on Saturday as he tried to rape two other inmates at night and transferred him to another hostel without taking any action. Even the lady warden knew what was happening and she would also threaten the children against complaining and reportedly tell the girls, “Ravianna” will commit suicide if you disclose it to others.

The matter came to light yesterday as Virajpet taluk panchayath president Rani narayana, Zilla Panchayath member Ganesh and others visited the hostel to conduct an inquiry.

Today, members of Cauvery sene and other organizations are visiting the hostel to demand arrest of the cook and initiate immediate action.
