NOT REEL; IT’S A DRAMA IN REAL LIFE;Madikeri September 18, 2006 The attached picture depicts the hard way people in a village live even after 60 years of independence. A person can forego walking on a delicate bridge like this in a circus. But these villagers have to risk their life each day if they have to go out of their dwelling place. Naadnalli is a village situated at Bettadalli near Somwarpet. It’s a remote village with no roads and electricity. Other infrastructures and basic facilities are a mere dream to these villagers. The village receives 250 inches of rainfall each year. But they have no approach road and have to cross a local river through a rough hanging bridge which might collapse any time. Men, women, children and the aged, all have to climb a tree to reach to this bridge and cross the river to see civilization outside. Villagers have demanded the deputy commissioner and district in charge minister should personally visit this area and improve basic facilities. Villagers climbing the bridge Crossing the bridge CHIEF JUSTICE RAMESH INAUGURATES SPORTS;Chief justice, (administration) Ramesh from Bangalore inaugurated a sports meet of judges, advocates and court employees. Inaugurating the meet yesterday, he called upon the judiciary to relax their body and mind through sports which is essential for every one. The sports meet was organized as a part of the Golden Jubillee celebration of Karnataka high court. The deputy commissioner Subodh Yadav and Superintendent of police Dr.Ramachandra Rao also emphasized the need and benefit of sports in the life of an individual. Fast track court judge Gujagave presided over. BAR association president B.J.Chinnappa, D.Lingappa and K.S.Aiayappa of BAR association Somwarpet and Virajpet, judges from other courts, Principal Reka Kalaiah were present in the meet. FEDERATION SUGGESTED TO IMPROVE KODAVA COMMUNITY;A successful business man from Bangalore, Nambudumada Narendra called upon to form a Federation to develop Kodava Community in the district. Addressing Kail poldh festival meet here yesterday as a chief guest, he stated that as government is not helpful to the community, many developmental works could be undertaken by the Federation not depending upon the government. He quoted Kodava family hockey as an example and said that areas are developed each year as family hockey is being held in different places. Addressing the gathering, past president Moovera subbaiah said that care should be taken to preserve the rich Kodava culture as it may erode if treated with negligence. President of the Samaj, Suresh Chengappa presided over. A book “Kodava Ajjanda Botera Kate” by Kodanda Madappa was released on the occasion. GOWDA SAMAJ FELICITATES ACHIEVERS;Gowda samaj yesterday felicitated achievers in many fields. Students, teachers, and story writers from the community was recognized during the meet and felicitated. Taluk panchayath president Talur Kishore Kumar inaugurated the function and Hosur Satish presided over the function. |
