ARMY SCHOOL WORK STARTED AT KUDIGEMadikeri Sept.10 The army school will start functioning from next academic year in Kudige near Kushalnagar. The school was sanctioned by the state Govt. and the then Chief Minister S.M.Krishna had shown personal interest. However, the aim was not attained after the. Govt. changed. The present Govt. is involved to support the establishment of “Sainik School” under the Central Govt. scheme. The district administration has already reserved 55.93 acres of land at chickathur and Basvathur villages . The Central Defense ministry has deputed Kaverappa who is serving in Sathara Sainic school in Maharashtra to take responsibility of carrying infrastructural works. kaverappa being the native of Kodagu is brisk in commencing a disciplined school from the next academic year. Nearly 300 students will be accommodated. The project estimation is Rs. 10 crores and the Govt. has already released Rs. 1 crore for the project.The education is based on central syllabus and classes will be from 6th to 12th.The building construction work is started in the site. One of the old buildings where the sports school was commenced is also being repaired to be used for the school. Earlier the sports school is shifted to the new building. From the next academic year the boys will be selected and in future course the Govt.is aimed in commencing the separate girls school also-explained Major Kaverappa, who is incharge of the project.
