MATHANDA CLINCHES PATTADA CUP;

Matanda family team clinched the “Pattada Cup Cricket” organized by the Pattada family.

The first ever leather ball family cricket tournament attracted around eighteen families. It was played for fifteen days. In the finals held at Virajpet yesterday, former minister M.C.Nanaiah distributed the trophy to the winners. Mathanda won a hectic finals against the Neravanda team which lost by three wickets.

Addressing the gathering, M.C.Nanaiah stated that organizing family sports strengthens unity among the family members. He urged the district administration to convert Virajpet as the taluk play ground.

Presiding over the valedictory ceremony Major General (Rtd.) B.A.Cariappa stated that families should further support such tournaments and produce players of national repute. National hockey empire Aiyyada Venu Uthappa,Pattada family president P.K.Chengappa and others spoke on the occasion.

BADMINTON HELD;

The district level Gowda family Badminton was held since three days and the valedictory function was held yesterday at Chettalli.

Srimangala Cultural association, Kedambadi Chinnappa, Dambekopdi Subnraya, Periyana Poovaiah and Aiyyandra Belliappa memorial tournament attracted community members from across.Moole majalu Muthappa and Katrikolli Anitha snatched the singles tittles. In doubles, parlakoti Tirupathi and Sachin in mens event and Dambekodi Jayanthi and Susheela Nagaraj won the first place.

Periyana Dayanad presided over.Bank manager Kunchadka Jayaprakash, Assistant Commissioner Appaiah, former MLA D.S.Madappa and others were present.
