SHOP COMPLETELY BURNT

Madikeri Oct 22 A shop in the town area is completely burnt due to accidental fire. The incident happened during night time yesterday.” The Hearts”- a shop belong to Nandakumar at Mahadevpet , Madikeri was completely burnt. All the gift and other materials kept inside the shop destroyed by fire. The shop owner Nandkumar’s house is attached to the shop. Hearing the fire noise he woke up and called the neighbours. Due to the neighbours timely act and also the fast arrival of the fire brigade, the spreading of fire to the touching buildings and the houses was stopped. Police personnel also timely reached and controlled the situation.

FORGET SILLY THINKING-PREMA SUGGESTED

Madikeri Oct. 22 Forget silly thinkings: try to cultivate broadmindedness and this will help in the overall development of Kodagu-The suggestion is given by Prema Cariappa, the Rajysabha member. She was speaking after inaugurating the community hall built at Shri Padi Igguthappa temple site at the cost of Rs. 10 lakhs released by her grant. The in fight inside the political parties should not create hindrance to the development of Kodagu-she opined. We all should be united considering the improvement in various fields. There is misconception in high level about Kodagu, The rulers consider Kodagu as a richest district., They compare and praise the district as the southern Kashmir, switzerand and so on. The inner look is completely adverse. Many burning problems still exists in Kodagu- analysed Prema Cariaoppa

She invited the local representatives to go a delegation to New Delhi to meet the leaders. She assured to lead. The delegation should prepare the problems mainly related to coffee and also about the rural development issues-she opined.

Govt has provided the facility of crop loan to Coffee plantation. However, in another aspect, coffee has been considered as an industry which is contradictory to the loan considerations. The industrial consideration should go and coffee should be added to farming sector. The same argument will be presented before the Coffee Board meeting to be held on 27th of this month –Prema disclosed.

She reqested the district administration and the Govt. not to impose tax on home stays for a minimum of 5 years. The home stays came to existence in kodagu as an alternative business line and this has created a special scope for tourism developement in kodagu she analysed. She also announced her intention to build up a community hall in every village in Kodagu through the grants available to her by the central Govt.

K.G.Bopaiah, the local M.L.A while speaking appreciated the interest shown by prema cariappa for Kodagu developement and assured his support irrespective of party politics. Replying to the suggestion of exempting home stays from the tax limits, Bopaiah told , already the Deputy C.M. has assured to exempt home stays from tax for one year terms and further memorandum will be given to extend the duration.

Paradanda Kaverappa, the president of Padi Iguuthappa temple committee made introductory speech. K.K.Muthappa, president of Bhkatha Janasangha presided over the function.. Sannuvanda Kaverappa introduced the guest. Thaluk Panchayarth member B.U.Poovanna submitted a memorandum. K.M Bopaiah prayed and Udiyanda pemmaia conducted the vote of thanks.
