TUSKER THROWS MILKMAN INTO AIR

A tusker threw a milkman into air, trampled him on the ground and left him with broken limbs in the main road yesterday at Maldare.

Chengappa, 51 was taken by surprise by a tusker on the main road. It hurled him with his cycle he was riding around 7 a.m. He was setting out to supply milk in the town. He was immediately shifted to Madikeri hospital.

The district surgeon Dr.Palekar told that the victim is out of danger, but has suffered multiple fractures and injuries.

ELECTROCUTED;

Mani aged 23 died of electrocution at Siddapur yesterday.

According to police, Mani was attempting to repair a tape recorder at night. He must have come into contact with a live wire and died on the spot.

AUTORIKSHAWS OFF THE ROAD;

The autorikshaws at Kushalnagar went off the road yesterday to protest against police high handedness.

The association officials said that the town police have been seizing vehicles with silly reasons and are slapping heavy fine. They said that nine autorikshaws are seized by the police for trivial reasons. The drivers are being harassed, alleged association members led by president Subramanya.

However, Sub Inspector Shiva Reddy said that they are not harassing auto drivers. Instead, they are not heeding to the request to stop overloading vehicles, he said. Passengers are made to sit with the drivers, inviting trouble, he clarified.

Zilla Parishath president Ashok and other politicians visited the spot.

CM TO BE INVITED TO TALACAUVERY;

The Chief Minister Kumar Swamy would be invited to witness teertodbava at Talacauvery on this 17th.

Announcing this in a press conference at Bhagamandala, the district incharge minister Ramachandra Gowda said that CM might accept his invitation.

The minister said that arrangements to accommodate pilgrims who flock in thousands to take a holy dip during Sankramana are made in full swing. He also announced that a high level meeting to discuss the issues and problems of Kodagu would be held in Bangalore shortly.
