SUVARNA KARNATAKA MARCH KICKSTARTSMadikeri October 5, 2006 The much publicized Suvarna Karnataka Sanskritika Dibbana was given a colourful start today after a pooja at the birth place of holy river Cauvery at Talacauvery. The district incharge minister Ramachandra Gowda performed pooja at the twin temples and holy Kundige at Talacauvery and flagged off the march at Bhagamandala. The minister called upon the people to strengthen the unity of Karnataka by remembering the efforts rendered by kannada doyens like Alur Venkata Rao and others. Caste and creed should not come in the way of unity, he said. Under the visions of celebrated poet Kuvempu the sons of kannada are taking out march from eight different directions today to meet at one point at the same time, he informed. Hailing the efforts of the present Government in organizing a celebration like this, the minister hoped for peoples co operation. Vice president of the Zilla Panchayath B.C.Neelamma, Taluk Panchayath president Kishore Kumar, DC Subodh yadav, Superintendent of police Ramachandra rao, CEO Naik, Kannada sahitya Parishath president T.P.Ramesh and others were present in the inaugural function. The students from Bhagamandala schools performed dance and singing programme. “Bolakat” and “Dudipat”, the cultural dances added colour to the occasion. MLAs K.G.Bopaiah, H.D.Basavaraju and B.A.Jivijaya were absent during the function. 1: MINISTER INAUGURATES 2: PROCESSION MOVED FIVE ELEPHANTS TO BE CAPTURED;Madikeri 5 Member of the Legislative Assembly, B.A.Jivijaya has said that the government has agreed to capture five elephants in the district. Laying foundation to a community hall at Doddabandara at Somwarpet taluk, Jiviya said that the herd of five elephants creating ruckus in Somwarpet taluk would be captured and the forest department has received approval from the government. The capture order comes after the repeated appeal by the villagers from cluster of villages in Shanivarsanthe and Kodlipet areas, bordering Hassan district. Herds of elephants are creating tension in these villages through their presence inside. Crops are rampaged by the herds which are also threatening the lives. During the “Bhumi Pooja” he said that rupees two lakh is sanctioned for the community hall from his fund. Gram Panchayath president Pramila and others were present. |
