FIVE CRORE TO DISTRICT THROUGH CENTRAL PACKAGE;

The central government has sanctioned a package of rupees five crores to the district, MLA K.G.Bopaiah said.

Inaugurating a water project at Ballmavati villagr near here yesterday, Bopaiah said that rupees five crore out of the eighteen crore released for the state water projects would come to Kodagu. The package was announced by the Prime Minister, according to him.

Bopaiah also disclosed that rupees 62 lakh was released for drinking water facility. He lambasted the officials and said that they are not giving any details about the release. He appealed to the elected representatives of the respective mandal panchayaths to be aware of the facilities and utilize them properly.

FOUR CAUGHT FOR BANGALORE MURDER;

Bangalore crime branch police have taken four persons from Kodagu into custody in connection with the deadly murder of a mandal Pradhan, Muniswamy.

Muniswamy was brutally killed at Turahalli of Talla Ghatta, last month. The accused went in a Qualis vehicle and attacked Muniswamy along with three others. While he died on the spot, others sustained grievous injuries.

Four from Kodagu, residents of Harangi near Kushalnagar were working in Bangalore as taxi drivers and fled the place after the incident and were hiding here. The arrested are Munna, arun, Rushikumar and another friend, whose name was not disclosed by police. Their arrest came after the main accused Srinivas alias Kulla Seena disclosed the names to police.

Accused Uthappa stabbed to death Vanchira Somaiah of Hoddur village on August 25, 2005. The murder took place over a land dispute.

The accused is given lifer and fined rupees five thousand.
