DEVEGOWDA ASSURES TO SOLVE JAMMA CONFLICT;

Former Prime minister H.D.Devegowda yesterday assured to solve Jamma land issue.

Addressing people of Kodagu at Mysore Kodava Samaj yesterday he stated that the Jamma issue causing concern would be solved immediately after the election. Devegowda stated that he is well aware of the Jamma hurdles and former minister M.C.Nanaiah had explained to him the difficulties earlier. He spoke about the issue as Kodava Samaj handed him over a memorandum to solve the issue. ‘I will ask the chief minister to set right the issue” he said.

Addressing the gathering, MLC Arun Machaiah urged that the government should withdraw order immediately and assure the rights of land owners who are enjoying the land since decades. He clarified that the order was passed not in the interest of preserving Western Ghat. Western Ghat is spread even at Hassan, Chikmagalur and Sakleshpur also and why this apathy about Kodagu?, he questioned.

Machaiah appealed to the minister of Public Works Department, H.D.Revanna to sanction rupees 95 crores for the repair of Hunsur – Makutta road. MP Vijaya Shankar was present. President of Kodava Samaj, Poyyetira Ganapathy anchored the programme.

DC SEECKS CLARIFICATION;

The Deputy commissioner Subodh Yadav has sought clarification from the Divisional Commissioner, Mysore regarding the latest orders about the Jamma Land.

He has said that the orders passed by revenue secretary Jamdar contradict with that of the earlier order of 1996. So far, Jamma land used to be converted and sold as per the previous order and suddenly the latest order states that the land owners have no right to sell them.

SECRETARY FACES CHEATING CASE;

Bellu Bopaiah, who had served as the secretary of Kedamallur VSSN is facing charges of cheating the society of rupees 1.6 lakhs and creating false record of payment.

Bopaiah had misappropriated VSSN fund to the tune of rupees 1.6 lakh between 1974 – 81. later he had agreed to repay the amount. Records were so created that he had shown that the amount was refunded.

The cheating case came to light after much delay and the VSSN has lodged a cheating case now with Virajpet police.

Investigation is on.
