Madikeri November 27, 2006

Kodagu police and forest sleuths yesterday arrested three persons and discovered lakhs worth of Ganja being transported by them.

A DCM Toyota lorry hailing from Andhra Pradesh was stopped at Sampaje gate. Though lorry was looking empty with only hay spread on it, sleuths made a thorough check up. It was revealed that the lorry had a secret opening inside and bags of Ganja were loaded there. The three inmates of the lorry including the driver tried to flee and were caught by the police.

Police were yet to estimate the actual value of Ganja. But the value might cross the figure of lakhs, according to top officials. Around 150 kilograms of dried Ganja in fifteen bags was seized along with the lorry. The accused hail from Andhraparadesh.

The lorry was coming from Andhra Pradesh and was going towards Kasargod.
