SECRETARY SUSPENDED;

A Gram Panchayath secretary ignoring Right to information act was suspended.

Suresh, serving as secretary at Kudmangalore village faces suspension as he refused to provide information to a person in spite of repeated requests and direction from higher officials.

According to Zilla Panchayath sources, Suresh ignored the information act and misled the applicant and refused to provide him record. He sent by registered post some impertinent records to escape from the hands of law, after the officials warned him.

BANDH AGAINST ATTROCITY CASE;

Hudikeri, a small town in Kodagu today observed bandh and protested against police registering a false atrocity case.

Protestors alleged that a schedukle caste person, H.D.Appanna lodged a false complaint with the police alleging that a resident of Hudikeri, nanda abused him by calling him Harijan. While police were about to register a case, people in large number met the DySP and convinced that the complaint was totally false and misleading. Police officer had agreed not to register a case.

However, as police tried to book a case, people in large number observed bandh by shutting down all shops and business establishment. They appealed to the officials to verify the truth before filing any case.

MURDERER GETS 7 YEARS;

Ismail, a resident of Hangal near Somwarpet is sentenced to undergo seven years imprisonment in a murder charge.

Ismail allegedly stabbed to death one Murugesh over a trivial matter during 2003, September.

The district and sessions court yesterday gave the verdict and sentenced Ismail to undergo rigorous imprisonment and slapped a fine of rupees two thousand.
