HUTHRI FESTIVAL ON DECEMBER 4Madikeri November 21, 2006 The harvest festival of Kodagu ‘Huthri’ will be celebrated on December 4. Thye daqte of the festival was fixed at padi sree Iggutappa temple yesterday by astrologer K.M.Shashikumar in the presence of parandanda family members. The rituals will beging at night 9 pm and the harvest will be cut at ten pm. Food could be served after eleven. NANAIAH URGES AUTONOMY FOR CO OPERATIVE INSTITUTES;Former minister M.C.nanaiah yesterday urged autonomy for co operative institutions. Addressing the valedictory function of co operative week here he regretted that even though Chief Minister Kumar Swamy had promised to implement the same, even at the cost of his post, the CM is ignoring it. Nanaiah stated that the then CM Krishna had promised to do the same and his government collapsed before he could implement it. Cahjoling that though the co operative organizations have corrupt persons in it, the number is not like politicians. Seventy percent of the polioticians are found corrupt, M.C.nanaiah lambasted. MLA K.G.Bopaiah spoke on the occasion and said that the co operative movement carries no meaning till gets autonomy. MLA Basavaraju stated that some of the co operative organizations are expecting closure due to mismanagement and corruption. DCC Bank president Matanda Ramesh stated that the organizations are surviving due to the recovery of loans. Chairman of the state Agriculture and Rural development bank, Shadakshari said that politics should not creep into co operative field. Zilla Panchayth president Ashok and others were present on the dais. S.B.Shankar, N.S.Deviprasad and B.B.Nanaiah were honoured during the occasion for their service in co operative field. |
