DEVELOPMENT WORKS TO BE OVER BY MONSIOON;Madikeri November 17, 2006 The development of the twin temple towns, Talacauvery and Bhagamandala would be over by coming monsoon, according to the Managing director of Cauvery authority, Srinivas. Srinivas paid a visit to the towns yesterday along with the deputy commissioner and other officials and inspected the developments. He stated that the rejuvenation of the temple would be over by monsoon and rejuvenation of the holy Kundike where the ‘teerta’ sprouts up during the Tula Sankramana day, each year will be taken up after wards with due consultation with the experts. Srinivas said that the Chief Minister would be invited during the Maha pooja after the completion of work. NESTLE KODAGU CUP;‘Nestle Kodagu Cup’ hockey tournament would be held at Murnad grounds from December first to third. President of the hockey association, Nellamakkada Mohan informed this to scribes at a press conference yesterday. Vice president Subash Muthanna told that the association will honour Jagadish Chjandran of Nestle during the tournament for their continued support in encouraging hockey in Kodagu, every year. ROSEWOOD SMUGGLERS HELD;Forest sleuths have arrested three notorious wood smugglers and seized booty worth rupees eight lakhs. According to officials, Mohammed Cheku, Rashid and Somesh of Chennayana kote near Pollibetta were illegally transporting rosewood in a tractor and a lorry. The trio was leading the two vehicles in an ambassador car with some party flag. Intercepting the vehicles, the sleuths arrested the accused and seized all the three vehicles in the wee hours, yesterday. Forest officials said that the trio were a notorious gang hoodwinking officials since a year. They would carry out smuggling by keeping some party flag in front of their vehicles. |
