NAGABHARANA TO PRODUCE KODAVA MOVIE;

Kannada movie producer Shankarabharana has said that he will produce a Kodava movie by next Kannada Rajyotsava.

He was addressing the gathering after releasing a Kodava cassette here yesterday . Calling upon Kodavas to preserve their rich culture and language , Nagabarana regretted that only one Kodava movie was produced so far. Globalisation cannot affect a region where culture enjoys respect . he advised the Kodava academy to work on scientific and practical ways to enrich the beauty of the culture.

Karnataka Kodava academy had organized the function to release a cassette sung in Kodava language.

The deputy commissioner Subodh Yadav threw a surprise at the audience by speaking entirely in Kodava language. Appreciating the popularity of the district , the D C stated that even though the population of the district is very small , the people have hit the lime light in many spheres of life without any external help or influence. Dr. Pushpa Kuttanna addressed the gathering and said that cultural interests should be taught to children from an young age. Assistant director of All India Radio , Indira Gajaraj stated that AIR programmes are well received by the public here. Press academy member G. Rajendra and Kodava academy President Dotty Povaiah spoke on the occasion.

Ashitha Shankar invoked. K. M. Motaiah welcomed the gathering . The cassette singers G. Chidvilas and M.K. Ponnappa anchored . N.U. Kechamaiah proposed vote of thanks .

EMPTY POTS DISPLAYED

While people are crying hoarse “ rain rain go away “, the residents of Ammathi are shouting “ not a drop to drink “.

Residents of Ammathi yesterday held a lightning protest against Gram Panchayath demanding drinking water . protesters from about two hundred families led by Prema , Aravind and others alledged that though a Rs. 5 lakhs action plan was sanctioned during last year for drinking water facility, the Mandal Panchayath has not taken up the work.

They submitted a memorandum to the executive officer Nagaraj and demanded immediate action.
