SWINES SUFFER FROM FEVER ;Madikeri November 4, 2006 In an alarming event, swines in rural areas are suffering from strange fever. The veterinary department has said that the strange fever is claiming the lives of pigsand there is no competitive lab to test the cause in the state. However, Dr.M.T.manjunath said that the parts of pigs are sent to Ijath Nagar lab in North India for testing. According to him, pigs had developed disease earlier during July and were suspected as Throat Fever. However, the lab at Bangalore ruled out the fear of Throat fever and the disease gradually came down. But the fever has returned to rural areas again, causing great concern. People of kodagu are panicked about the disease as Pork is a delicacy here. “Akki Otti and Pork Curry” (Rice Roti and Pork Curry) are the speciality of Kodagu which goes as traditional break fast in most of the houses. Dr.Manjunath said that medicine has to be brought from outside the state if the disease is proved as pig fever, as there is a shortage of it in the state. Around 25 pigs have died due to the disease in the district so far since about two months. BODY YET TO BE TRACED;Body of a PUC student who got drowned in river cauvery is yet to be traced. The student Arjun, 16, was drowned in the river at Nisargadama near Kushalnagar on second while swimming. He had gone there with six of his friends for swimming. Police and public are trying in vain to look for the body. SEARCH FOR TERRORISTS CLUES;According to reliable sources, a special squad is combing parts of kodagu looking for terrorist clues. Police sources said that Superintendent of police ( Mysore and In charge of kodagu) Bhagavan das and teams from Mysore are combing Kushalnagar and other places in kodagu for terrorist clues. The search comes after the arrest of terrorists and their supporters in Mysore. However, higher officials were not available for confirmation. |
