BANGLA CITIZEN UNDER ARREST;

Virajpet police yesterday arrested a Bangladesh citizen staying in the country with a lapsed passport.

According to police, Mohamed Hasim Tulakdar is a native of Cholkali village in Chottagray district of Bangladesh. He has come to Kodagu with a tourist visa between May 16to June 16th. He was here to attend the funeral of his Indian wife Sahins mother. However, he neither extended his visa nor returned to Bangladesh since then.

Mohamed Hasim Tulakdar is produced before the magistrate and is sent to judicial custody.

FELICITATION CONDEMNED;

The awards distributed to public yesterday by the district administration came under heavy attack by different quarters. Some of the award winners and public termed the distribution as an insult committed to the public.

Totally eleven persons were distributed award by the district in charge minister Ramachandra Gowda in the Suvarna Karnataka function organized at Mann’s compound grounds. While six were officials, five were public. The officials were felicitated with shawl and fruits. But the five others were just given a certificate and a single flower, as though to complete the formality.

An awardee Anita Cariappa termed the discrimination as an insult meted to public by the district administration.

She said that it is a display of shameful poverty during the celebration of golden jubilee.

THIMMAIAH AS LFT. COMMANDER;

Matanda Thimmaiah, a native of Kodagu is promoted as Lieutenant Commander.

Thimmaiah was serving in the navy as an engineering officer at Gaduda Naval base and is promoted.

He is the son of matanda Belliappa and Ponnamma of Madikeri.
