STATE LEVEL NCC CAMP ON;Madikeri May 31, 2006 A Combined Annual training Camp of 19 Karnataka Bn, NCC camp has commenced at Kushalnagar from 27th. Lt.Col.Akil Shah and administrative chief Major Aiyyar would head the 12-day camp held at Polytechnic campus. Talking to this correspondent, Akil shah told that around 650 cadets from kodagu, Puttur, Sullya, Udupi, Manipal and other places are taking part in the camp. The camp aims to help in developing qualities of charectar and leadership through activities involving teamwork and group dynamics. They would be exposed to regimental way of life essential to inculcate the values of discipline, dutifulness, punctuality, orderliness, respect for rightful authority etc. Cadets in the camp would be put through drill, physical exercise and weapon training. Expert speakers are also called to brief the cadets. The cadets will also take part in classical song and dance competitions, Lt.Cl. Akil Shah told. The camp will end on seventh of June. Cadets during training RAIN SUBSIDES; PAIN SURFACES;The five-day incessant rainfall has reduced its harshness and duration in Kodagu. However, its effects are surfacing slowly in the form of loss of property. Reports from Virajpet said that around ten houses have partially collapsed and no one is hurt. Houses on the hillocks at Maletirike and Nehrunagar at Virajpet and at other places around it are damaged partially. A huge tree has collapsed on a Bhadrakali temple at Hudur near ponnampet.
