DC HOLDS HIGH LEVEL MEETING; RAIN CONTINUES;Madikeri May 30, 2006 Incessant rain fall in Kodagu continues for the third day. While people fear damage to their properties, officials are gearing up to face flood situation. A tree has fallen on a house at makkandur near madikeri. Similar incidents have taken part in many places. Deputy Commissioner Subodh yadav called an emergency meeting yesterday and instructed the officials to maintain vigil. Tahasildars are asked to alert local officials and instructed to fly red flags in flood prone areas. Power and manual boats are organized at Karadigodu, Dubare, balamuri and other places where the water level is alarmingly rising. Many paddy fields are already inundated in South and North kodagu. District is receiving an average five inches rain fall daily. Talacauvery and Bhagamandala are receiving minimum ten inches of rainfall. Bhagamandala and napoklu are cut off from the other part as Cauvery is flooding the main roads and low lying areas. The DC has cautioned the officials not to leave the station. ZP PRESIDENT BOOKED;Zilla Ranchayath president Ashok is booked for allegedly attacking and abusing his Sc driver Raju. It can be recalled that Raju called a press conference on Sunday along with DSS leaders and accused that the police have refused to register a case against Ashok. Budging to the pressure, Kushalnagar police have booked an atrocity case against him Ashok is not found in station. The case was booked after the daylong effort by political leaders failed to convince the DSS leaders not to lodge a complaint. |
