UNIQUE ‘BODU’ FESTIVAL;

MADIKERI May 25, 2006

A unique BODU festival of south kodagu was celebrated by Tribes at Devarapura today.

Tribes from all over Kodagu attired in colourful dresses made by leaves, barks and other strange materials enthyralled thje crowds which had gathered to witness them.

The festival is famous for abuses and tribes throw vulgar remarks at everyone who sees them. Fuklly drunk, the onlookers are mocked and called names. They connect this festival to a historical incident between Lord Aiyappa and a godess.

Even Gods are not spared from abuses.
