GP PRESIDENT UNDER ARREST

Police on charges of attempt to murder yesterday arrested Gonicoppal gram panchayath president B.D Mukunda.

According to police, Mukunda attacked his neighbor and a member of the APMC.

The attack came as the duo began to exchange abuses over a property dispute. Mukunda allegedly attacked Veeraj with a billhook. He was shifted to Mysore for treatment.

Meanwhile MLC Arun Machaiah and other leaders entered police station and physically pushed Mukunda into lock up as he was writing a counter complaint.

Zilla Panchayath member M.K.Nanjappa has alleged that police did not register case against Veeraj even though he attacked Mukunda and his wife by trespassing into their house, police did not register a case.

Mukunda, who was in custody yesterday, was shifted to hospital at Virajpet today.

Veeraj is said to be recovering.

NEW SP TRANSFERRED;

The newly appointed superintendent of police Dr.Subramanyeshwara Rao is transferred to Udupi even before he completed two weeks of his service in Kodagu.

According to sources, K.Ramachandra Rao, serving as a COD SP will replace Dr.Subramanyeshwara Rao.

Senior citizens of the district have condemned the governments decision to transfer officials even before they adjust their foot in the district and said that law and order situation will also deteriorate, if the same trend continues.
