HUSBAND MURDERED WIFEMadikeri May 23 Chndra a labourer at Tribal colony near Kushalnagar has murdered his wife Bhojamma (25) after boozing on 22nd night. He assaulted his wife with a sickle.S.P.Subramanyeshwara Rao has visited the spot.The accused Chandra is absconding. Criminal activities are increasing in the tribal area due to the increasing number of arrack shops. This should beer stopped according to the version of tribe leader R.K.Chandru. Further, letters will, be sent to all the editors, to give the list of authorized vehicles to carry the newspapers and to the vehicles carrying staff, and reporters.-Tagore explained. Any accredited journalists should not misuse the cards. If such cases is reported, the committee and the department will take necessary steps against such persons. PROTEST DURING DY.CM.VISITMadikeri May 23 Citizens of Virajpet protested against the transfer of an efficient sub inspector of police Santosh and two hours Bandh call demanding the continuation of his service was successful at Virajpet today. Meanwhile the Deputy Chief Minister B.S.yediyurappa came on the way to Virajpet to attend the inauguration of Shri Shanthamallswamy Vidyapeetha newly built building At Arameri village near Virajpet. Various association leaders who took lead for the protest against the transfer of SI Santosh tried to block the car of DY. C.M at Virajpet to complain about the involvement of MLA Basavaraju in the transfer conspiracy. However, DY.C.M’s Car went fast ignoring hundreds of protestors at Virapet town and Yediyurappa coolly attended the inauguration function at Arameri Village. This enraged the agitators and tried to stop an ambulance van which was foiled by the police. The agitators shouted slogans against M.L.A Basavaraju and also against DY.C.M.. Many leaders who were ready with garlands to the DY C.M expecting his stoppage at the town returned with dejection. Police have controlled the situation as there was tension created when Yediyurappa did not stopped there. Within a span of 5 minutes Basavaraja Horatti,the minister for Education and Law who followed the DY.C.M. Stopped seing the agitators. MLC Arun Machaiah was with him. Horatti assured the enraged agitators to continue the Sub Inspector Santosh at Virajpet.The agitators alleged against the Inchage DySP Nagappa for misguiding the DYCM not to stop at Virajpet and they demanded his transfer. The citizens warned against the entry of MLA Basavaraju to Virapet in future for ignoring them. PRESS CONFERENCEDY.C.M after attending the function called a press conference and disclosed the Govt. has earned more than 3400 crores of revenue in the Arrack transactions during 2005-06.He expressed further highest revenue expected in future with the proper measures to stop illicit dealings. He told Rs. 1.75 crore has been released for the overall development of 4 towns in Kodagu. Madikeri, Kushalnagar, Virajpet and Somwarpet towns will get these sanctions he told. |
