TIBETAN FLAG FLUTTERS AT ABBI FALLS;Madikeri May 22, 2006 A group of tourists yesterday noticed Tibetan flags flying at Abbi water falls at Madikeri. The famous tourist spot attracting hundreds of tourists each day has about half a dozen different flags of Tibet fixed on rocks, adjacent to water falls. Neither the police who go there on duty nor the district administration took notice of it. Meanwhile, people complain that there is no security in the water falls which claims the lives of atleast half a dozen tourists each year. The tourists play in the water unaware of the fact that it has a current in it. The boards displayed indicating the danger is catching dust. A police room built in the area is hardly used by them. Neither the district administration, nor police are bothered to post regular police personnel, at least during the season. While high parking fee was collected, cleanliness is given last priority in the area, which looks like a dumping yard in many spots. The district administration has to gear up to provide security and maintain cleanliness in the area.
