RUPEES 1.82 CRORES FOR SANITATION;

The Deputy Commissioner Subodh Yadava has said that the government had allotted rupees 1.82 crores for sanitation works and already 1.16 crores in this were spent in different Town panchayaths in the district.

In a communiqué, he said that a separate place to dump garbage from Madikeri was identified near K.Nidugane village. A compound, bore well and security posts would be built here to maintain the dump yard, he said. Meanwhile he has insisted the Town Panchayaths and CMC Madikeri to complete the projects by the end of June.

EXPERTS VISIT LOCUST HIT AREAS;

A team of experts from Coffee Research Station, Chettalli visited Locust prone areas in balele yesterday.

Director C.B.Prakash has said that there is no need to panic about the Locust as they are not eating coffee ceeds and are feeding only on leaves.

The team has directed the planters to use pesticide Koranda 505 to eradicate the

Locust. 1.2 mm of pesticide should be added to one liter of water, they suggest.

SOMANNA REMEMBERED;

Kotera A.Somanna was fondly remembered yesterday in a function at Madikeri.

Former commissioner of Scouts, Kotera A.Somanna passed away recently.

Guests spoke about the life of Somanna and a Sarvadharma Bhajan was also held.

State Scouts and Guides commissioner Kondajji Shanmukappa, district commissioner Baby Mathew, wife of Kotera Somanna and others were present in the function.
