INSTALLATION CEREMONY AT THALCAUERY

The installtion of Shri Mahaganapathi, Shri Agastyeshwara and Shri Shasthavu will be held from 15th may to 20th May at Thalacauvery, the birth place of River Cauvery. This was disclosed b y the Madikeri constituency M.L.A Mr. K.GBopaiah here. He was addressing a press conference on behalf of the Thalacauvery-Bhagamndala reconsecration committee as an Honorary Secretary.

Shtri Padmanbha Tanthri of Neeleshwar will perform various Homas, Havanas, poojas, and Brahmakalasha on 19th, Rudrayaga on 20th. All these six days, mass feeding is arranged. The residents of Bhagamandala and the localites have promised full cooperation .Kannada Culture department has arranged saxophone music. Bhajans team perform Bhajans. Chelvarayaswamy, the state transport minister, Jemsi Ponnappa of kushalnaar and Somshekhar of P.G.Constructions have come forward to donate for each one day performances The Gowda Samajas have donated Rs. 2.5 lakhs. explained Mr. Bopaiah. The Govt. is continuing the renovation work The committee has the responsibity of reconsecration thus smoothening the further renovation work in the areas.The Altec Fondations organization have taken up the cleaning work and banning of plastics during the ceremony. The M.L.A explained

River Cauvery is flowing in more than 750 K.M.s area in Karnataka, Tamilnadu and Kerala. She is feeding the mass area with irrigation and providing drinking water to crores of people. The people from all these areas should participate in this religious ceremonies Mr. Bopaiah appealed.

The main function is on 19th with the Brahma kalasha festival said the committee working president Mr. Mathanada Monnappa..On 20th the final day the special Rudra yaga will be performed praying for the betterment of mankind. He added.

Other Committee office bearers K.S.Devaiah, Suresh Chengappa, K.J.Bharath were present.

KODAGU BANDH NEAR TOTAL

Madikeri May 11

Kodagu Bandh is near total today. Leaders of various parties have given the Bandh call. They showed their protest against the D-limitation committee recommendations to reduce the three assembly constituencies in Kodagu District to two constituencies on the basis of population.

The three M.L.As K.G.Bopaiah, H.D.Basavaraju and B.A.Jeevijaya and M.L.C Arun Machaiah and all the party heads have called for Kodagu bandh today.

The Madikeri town was looking deserted today. The various patty workers forcibly closed all he bank establishments and vaious I private institutions in a join move. pelting of stones damaged a window glass of SBI here. Vehicles were stopped near General Thimmaiah circle. However the emergency vehicles were allowed. The Z.P.President Ashok who is an independent had surprised he public by parking his jeep across the Kushlnagar boder gate which caused blocking of all the vehicles their. However, the police intervened to shift the vehicle from the place and cleared the traffic. At Thithmathi –Periapatna border gate political leaders A.R.Krishna Kumar, Addanda Cariappa and Sara Chengappa have personally obstructed the traffic. Only emergency vehicles were allowed.

Mr. K.G.Bopapiah, the amadikeri M.L.A himself led the team of party workers in Madikeri town during the Bandh. Later Ex. Minister Suma vasanth and the District Congress lPresident Smt. Veena Achaiah also arrived to spot where a group of people were blocking the traffic in general Thimmaiah Circle.

In Sunticoppa of Somwarpet Thaluk some shops were opened. Overall, the Bandh was peaceful and Successful.
