PALNGANDA LIFTS HOCKEY TROPHY;

In a closely fought battle royale, Palanganda family team defeated Maccharanda by 6 – 5 and emerged winners in the Kallichanda hockey festival. The finals was played today evening.

The two teams fought tooth and nail to over power each others and stood with 2 – 2 when the time was up. A fifteen minute Golden time was given to prove the best. The teams created tension among the thousands of sports lovers packed full in the gallery at Ponnampet with their skillful game. Yet again, both the teams scored equal. The applauding audience could be seen jumping and dancing all over in excitement. Empires declared tie breaker. The pulse rate of the audience again shot up as the teams scored equal again. However, The Sudden death proved Palanganda winners as Macchmada lost by one i.e 6 – 5.

Around three hundred families took part in the twenty day family hockey being played at Ponnampet. A colourful closing ceremony was held until night. The Air Force team performed Syphony Orchestra.

CRICKET; KEDAMBADI TEAM EMERGES WINNERS;

In a week long cricket played by Gowda community at Chettimani grounds near Bhagamandala, Kedambadi team emerged winners and clinched the Kedambadi family cup cricket yesterday.

Kedambadi team won against Kudekal family team by scoring 74 against 64. Earlier in the semifinals, Kodekal team won against Kolibail team by 34 runs to enter the finals.

Kedambadi Dili turned into man of the match. Kedambadi Sharath became the man of the series. The felicitation ceremonyb was presided over by the tournament chairman K.M.Belliappa. MLA K.G>Bopaiah, TP president Talur Kishore Kumar, president of the Gowda education society, Hosur Ramesh Kumar, president of the cultural academy, Tumtaje Ganesh and others were present as chief guests and distributed prizes. Akash invoked. Deepu welcomed the gathering. Kaviprasad proposed vote of thanks.

CMC TO FORFEIT EMD OF CONTRACTRACTORS;

The City Municipal Council has decided to forfeit Earnest Money deposited by the contractors who delay the work.

The decision was arrived at as a member; Siraj Jeffri told the CMC meeting that only one road is repaired using the rain damage amount so far. Members spat fire and said that no development works are carried out in the town. The commissioner stated that tenders are approved for many works and contractors are delaying the work. A woman member Vasantha Keshava threatened to sit unto fast protest if work in her area is not immediately done. The commissioner replied stating that he will have to face the wrath of Lokayukta if he takes up work bypassing rules.

A resolution was passed to withhold the EMD of erring contractors and to get the works done through others.
