SOMWARPET BANDH TOMORROW;Madikeri May 2, 2006 A meeting called by different organizations yesterday decided to hold bandh, protesting against the delimitation order. Meeting chaired by the Convenor, K.G.Suresh of the action committee condemned the attempt to dissolve Somwarpet assembly constituency and called upon the people to stage protest through holding bandh, tomorrow. The action committee has decided to block all highways linking the bordering town like Kushalnagar, Kodlipet and Hebbale. The Zilla Panchayath president Ashok, member V.P.Shashidar, district BJP president S.G.Medappa,Taluk Panchayath president D Silva and others spoke on the occasion and expressed their solidarity to hold Bandh. Taluk youth congress and Veerashaiva Samaj have expressed their support for the bandh. MLA CAUTIONS PANCHAYATH;Somwarpet MLA B.A.Jeevijaya has cautioned the Town Panchayath alleging that labourers are not given houses. Addressing a houseless and Indira Abhimani sanga function yesterday, he accused town panchayath by stating that it has been ignoring the demand by not distributing houses to the labourers. He cautioned that he will sit and hold dharna in front of the TP, if the demad by the poor is not heard at the earliest. He alleged that the housing scheme is being misused and priority wise sanctioning is not done. He announced that the TP has the right to distribute 65 houses in the town limits to the beneficiaries under Ashraya programme and he will sanction the same, if he is given the list of beneficiaries. MLC SANCTIONS 1.5 LAKH;MLC Arun Machaiah has assured to release rupees 1.5 lakh to build a community hall for Nisarga Yuvaka Sanga at Kootuhole near here. Addressing their annual meeting, he said that the association should emerge as the best in the state. MLA K.G.Bopaiah, ZP vice president Neelamma, GP president Deen Bopanna and others spoke on the occasion. |
