PERSON COMMITTS SUICIDE;

Worried over heavy borrowing, a person committed suicide at Somwarpet.

According to police,G.S.Lingaraju, 45, committed suicide by hanging inside an estate. Lingaraju was reportedly missing since 12th of June.

An estate worker found a decomposed body in a hanging position from a tree atGejjehanakodu near Somwarpet on Wednesday. Investigations revealed that the body belonged to Lingaraju and he has committed suicide unable to repay loan amounts. He leaves wife and two children.

ZP APPROVES 17.35 CRORE ACTION PLAN;

The Zilla Panchayath has approved an action plan of rupees 17.35 crores for the year 2006 – 07.

Zilla Panchayath president Ashok chaired the meeting yesterday and sought the approval of members for the action plan. The meeting also approved a rupees 7.23 crore action plan of Graameena Rozgar yojana.

The plan includes rupees 7.11 crores to Madikeri, 5.15 crore to Somwarpet and rupees 5.7 crore to Virajpet taluk.

Meanwhile, the meeting passed a resolution to go in delegation to New Delhi to urge the government to increase constituency wise grants and to loosen the stringent rules which hamper progress Zilla Panchayaths.

ORPHANAGE AT SIDDAPUR;

An orphanage for girls was inaugurated at Siddapur yesterday.

The orphanage built by Shamsul Ulama Education Academy was inaugurated by Syed Umar Ali of Panakkad. Former MLA K.M.Ibrahim spoke on the occasion and called upon the people to lend financial assistance to organizations serving the orphans. He recalled that the Academy was running an orphanage for boys and is now opening a stay for girls too.

Kannada Sahitya Parishath president T.P.Ramesh and others spoke on the occasion.
