RAT FEVER ROCKS VILLAGE; ONE DIES

Heggala, a village near Virajpet is gripped by the fear of Rat fever which allegedly claimed the life of one, yesterday.

According to reports, Pramila, 28, died of rat fever yesterday in a hospital at Tellicherry in Kerala.

Pramila complained of tiredness and continues vomiting since a week and was shifted to Virajpet hospital. As the illness did not subside, she was shifted to a hospital at Kerala where she died yesterday.

The Kerala hospital has issued a certificate stating that she died of rat fever.

Incidentally her two children are also suffering from fever. Condition of Her children Nitish, 8 and Nirish, 6 are said to be serious.

The Heggala village panchayath member Appachanda Mahesh has said that few more villagers are suffering from the same fever and are hospitalized. He has urged the district health authorities to rush to the spot and initiate preventive measures to stop the spread of the desease.

MURDER ACCUSED LET ON BAIL;

A barber who had murdered his wife with a rod two years ago is let on bail by the High court.

Barber Suryakumar had allegedly killed his wife Prema with a rod during day time. He ran to his shop after killing and said someone has killed his wife.

The high court has directed the district court to issue him a conditional bail.

BUS FARE HIKED;

The private bus owners have announced a hike in fare.

A communiqué said that the minimum rate is raised from rupees four to 4.50 and other charges are raised between eight to ten percent, effective from today.

The hike comes in the wake of the increase in petrol price.
