SP FOR STATION UP GRADATION;Madikeri June 19, 2006 Superintendent of police Dr.Ramachandra Rao told that at least three police out posts in the district require up gradation. In an informal talk with this correspondent he said that the jurisdiction of the existing police stations were planned long ago and out posts have to be upgraded for better performance. He informed that the police stations in the district are strictly directed to utilize computer facility and enter FIRs into it on daily basis. Two constables each were exclusively deputed to the main police stations to look after computers and enter the data. A service jeep is also used for the purpose to attend to any snags. He said that Kodagu stands in 18th place in the state as for as computerization is concerned. He has urged the staff to hit the first place in the state by improving performance. The newly appointed SP has brought many changes in the administration. He has made it compulsory that even the office staff working in his office attends March past and regular exercises. “Yes, they are also policemen, they have to obey what the others are obeying”, he says. Kodagu has less law and order problem. Police administration and relationship with the public could be improved largely, he says. PEOPLE PROTEST ANOTHER HYDEL PROJECT;Large number of villagers, led by Kaveri Sena staged a protest against a mini hydel project proposed at Koodoli Kundh near Surlabbi in Somwarpet taluk. Villagers from Surlabbi, Kumbaragadige, Mankya and Garvale came in large number to the spot yesterday as media and members of Kaveri sene went there. They stated that a Bangalore based company did survey. The company intends to block two rivers that meet during monsoon and flow towards Madapur, they said. We will protest the proposal at any cost, they declared. Convenor of the Kaveri Sene, ravi Chengappa told that the Sene will not allow this project to come up. CAR STOLEN;Annaiah, a driver has lodged a complaint with the police stating that a group of people stole his car. According to him, couple of people hired his Qualis car to Mysore on Saturday. They stated that they have to go to a hospital at Mysore from Kushalnagar. At Mysore, the group some how took the key from the driver and drove away. It is suspected that the culprits belong to Kerala. A case has been registered. |
