LOKAYUKTA TRAPS OFFICIAL;

Officials of Lokayukta yesterday trapped an employee of sub registrars’ office accepting bribe.

Additional inspector of Lokayukta Jayaram and staff caught the staff, Ganesh red handed while accepting bribe in the office, yesterday evening.

Ganesh was reluctant to sign a file belonging to one Somappa of Garvale village. Lokayukta caught Ganesh as Somappa handed him over a note of rupees one hundred.

Ganesh was arrested and produced before the court. He was remanded to judicial custody for two days.

ENGINEERING COLLEGE TO KODAGU;

State higher education minister and a candidate for the graduate constituency D.H.Shankara Murthy has said that the government intends to start an engineering college in the district to lay more importance to education.

Talking to this correspondent, he stated that the government would also support if private parties come forward to start a college. He opined that apolitical fight is required to establish colleges in the district.

He reminded that the government has now permitted eleven-degree colleges in the state to come up, whereas the previous government did not permit a single college.

He disclosed that rupees 27.5 crores is earmarked in the state to open the colleges which are stopped mid way. Government has been incurring huge loss due to non completion, he said.

Reacting to NICE controvercy, he said that the government will not fall due to the confusion and the problem would be settled.

Mr.Shankaramurthy said that he is hopeful of winning the election as the voters have pushed him to victory for the last three times.

AUTO KILLS ONE;

An estate labourer died at Murnad yesterday hit by an autorikshaw.

According to police, H.T.mani, 50 was trying to climb a private bus at Murnad yesterday as the incident occurred. A speeding auto hit him. Mani sprawled on the road and blood started oozing from his head. He breathed his last on the way to hospital.

Police have registered a case.

THE EMPLOYMENT SCHEMES

Under the employment confirmation scheme the centre has reserved a fund of Rs. 5 thousand crores. Under the 5 year plans ..During the commencement of the scheme about one crore population will get employment in Karnataka and about 13 crore youth will get employment in the whole of a country. This scheme provides a minimum of one employment to each unemployed families-announced the central Planning minister for state Mr. M.V.Rajasheakharan. Rs.one Lakh seventy four thousand crores is also reserved for development under” Nav Bharath Nirman” scheme- he disclosed.
