ZP CAUTIONS OFFICIALS;Madikeri June 13 Flipping through the incomplete files of projects, the Zilla Panchayath yesterday cautioned the officials of severe action. Presiding over the Karnataka Development Review Meeting here president Ashok urged the officials who cannot show progress to leave the district. You shoud be sent out of the district, he cautioned. The elected representatives took to task the officials who were ignoring the decisions of the ZP and not taking up any responsibilities. Issues like transferring doctors without bringing it to the notice of the Health Committee, misappropriation in Harangi Horticulture Department, forest looting, unabated elephant attack, information less officials and lethargy from revenue officials came under heavy attack from the members. Members V.P.Shashidar, Ganesh, T.P.Ramesh and others gave examples of how the administration is suffering. Resolution was passed to investigate rupees twenty lakh misappropriation in Horticulture department during 2002 – 03. Reacting to the large scale timber smuggling at Kodlipet –Hasan border, forest officer Alexander stated that a forest guard Uthappa was suspended in this regard. He appealed that the government should come farward with a permanent solution to tackle elephant menace. Chief Executive Officer Sundar Naik was present. |
