PU VALUATION IRKS PARENTS, HARMS STUDENTS;Madikeri June 2, 2006 A family of a Pre university student had a fatal shock as the PU board has put the mark for her chemistry paper as “ 0 “ while she secured 92.66% and stood first for the taluk. Harshita, a PU student from St.Joseph’s girls PU College was declared as fail by the board in the marks card. Shocked by the result, her parents ran from pillar to post to find the truth. After much pursuance by using influence, it was revealed that the lecturer who did valuation had put the mark as zero in the paper by over sight. The same number entered computer too. After finding that she had scored 556 marks in Chemistry, the department here has declared her as standing first in Madikeri taluk in science. The irresponsible lecturers who did valuation did not spare others too. Two more students, Harshita and Divya of St.Meicheals school were also given Zero mark against 92 and 95 respectively in different subjects. CWS OPPOSES HIGH TENSION LINE;The Coorg Wild Life society today took strong objection to Power grid Corporation of India planning to pull a 400 KV power line to Kerala from Nagarahole National Park. Addressing a press conference here, president of the CWS, col Muthanna took strong objection to the line passing through Dubare, Devamachi, Maldare and Kutta and said that it is hazardous to the health of children, animals and plants. Insisting on the power corporation to pull the line through a route which already exists, he appealed to them to cancel the planned route. He noted that the line, which increases 72 KMs due to the new plan will also disturb the Elephant corridor – Devamachi and other places. Convenor of Cauvery Sena, Ravi chengappa told that he would organize protest if the government does not change its plans. Vice president K.M.Chengappa and member B.B.Chengappa were also present. |
