SLUSH SPORTS N AUGUST TWELVE;

The state level slush sports would be held at Kaggodlu near Madikeri on August twelve.

President of the Yuvajana Okkoota, Girish Talathmane told here that the 14th state level slush event will be held in the wet field of late C.D.Bopaiah. The slush sports produces maximum entertainment to the audience with tug of war, running, relay race, volley ball and other interesting events to men, women and students. Girish stated that the participants should register their names before August 9.

Sports is jointly organized by Youth Hostels association, Nehru Yuvaka Kendra, district youth services and taluk yuva Kendra.

ATTEMPT TO MURDER;

A contractor Jeevan was shot at and shifted to hospital in a serious condition. The incident was reported from Chembebellur, yesterday. According to police Jeevan was attacked and shot by Shivu, Baby and Rajesh yesterday night. Virajpet police have registered a case. Accused are at large.

HOUSE ADJOURNED THRICE;

The opposition parties thwarted the proceedings of the Zilla Panchayath yesterday and the meeting was stalled thrice. While the meeting was adjourned twice for ten minutes, it had to be adjourned for thirty minuites the third time as the meeting nearly witnessed fisticuffs.

Congress members squatted in the well demanding reason for the resignation by the president of education committee to his post. Ruckus broke as the president tried to continue the meeting by evading the question. The meeting re gathered after ten minuites after the adjournment. The members again demanded explanation. The president said that no reason is given by the member for resignation. This irked the members. Meeting had to be re adjourned due to hot debate.

Again as the members re gathered in the meeting hall, a BJP member shouted that those who block the proceedings should leave the house. Hell broke loose and shouting members rushed towards the president’s chair and demanded apology from the member. This enraged the ruling BJP members. Both BJP and opposition Congress members rushed towards each others and near fisticuffs was witnessed. However the president adjourned the meeting again and left the hall. Appeal by the BJP MLA K.G.Bopaiah to maintain calm and reassemble for the meeting fell on deaf ears. A compromise attempt inside the president’s chamber also went futile.

However, the members returned to their seats in thirty minutes. The meeting discussed other issues, leaving the controversial subject.

CONGRESS HOLDS PROTEST;

The Town Congress Committee today held a protest against the state government and demanded resignation.

A procession led by president Ganesh went up to the Deputy Commissioner and submitted a memorandum.

The Congress demanded resignation of the Chief Minister tainted with accepting bribe of rupees 150 crores in connection with the mining.
