MP ADVISES OFFICIALS TO RESPECT CITIZENS;

Member of the Parliament, Sadananda Gowda came down heavily on bureaucrats and told them that they are paid to work and respect the citizens. Addressing Vidyuth Adalath yesterday he warned the officials that they are expected to deliver sincere service and dereliction of duty will not be excused.

Sadananda Gowda went red after hearing the grievances and harassment meted out to consumers by the department. A house wife exhibited a telephone bill of rupees sixteen thousand sent to her house and said that the officials behaved very cheaply with her even when she tried to explain them the plight. They were not prepared to accept their fault, she complained. If such a bill had gone to some old people they would have committed suicide, she said. One after another complaints roused the temper of elected representatives and members of the advisory committee. Some of them threatened to submit resignation as the grievances are not addressed by the officials.

Non supply of telephone instrument, non functioning of mobile tower, difference in bill,shortage of equipments, harassment, demand for money were some of the complaints that rocked the Adalath.

Committee members S.G.Medappa, Sunil Subramani, former MLA Appachu Ranjan and others were present. Sadananda Gowda issued two months time to the department to set right the problems

ADMINISTRATOR TO SIDDAPUR GP;

Administrator was appointed to Siddapur Gram Panchayth and the elected body was suspended pending enquiry.

The suspension came as large scale misappropriation was reported in the GP.Executive officer of Virajpet Taluk Panchayath, agaraj is appointed as administrator. Investigation is on to verify the details of misappropriation.

A DENUNDED TEMPLE TOWN;

Lashing rainfall at Bhagamandala and Talacauvery, the twin TEMPLE towns has once again crippled the life since yesterday. The confluence of river Cauvery, Kannike and Sujyothi is overflowing. Roads to Madikeri, Napoklu, Talacauvery remain blocked.

Roads at Kanur, Nittur in South Kodagu was also blocked due to over flow of rivers and streams. Talacauvery received 10.47 inches of rainfall in 24 hours till yesterday evening. Bhaganmandala registered 8.87 inches. Madikeri received 3.58 inches taking the total to 85.99 inches. Last year it was 64.79. Somwarpet received 1.16 inches of rain fall. Total of this year here is 52.25 inches, compared to last years 31.87 inches. Virajpet received 2.42 inches. It received 58.72 inches, compared to last years 48.16 inches. Harangi reservoir has 2856.05 feet water. Last year it had 2852.65 inches of water.

MURDER ACCUSED IDENTIFIED;

Superintendent of police Ramachandra Rao told this correspondent that the accused I yesterdays murder case is identified.

He stated that timber merchant Moidu was attacked by Ballaranda Kaverappa alias Jeppu at Chettalli yesterday afternoon.

Jeppu attacked the victim with a bill hook in his field over business matter and let him on the field. Moidu with severe cuts walked around one kilometer towards the road and fell unconscious. He breathed his last on the way to hospital at Mangalore by evening.

SP said that the accused is absconding and search is on to nab him Theree teams are formed to catch the accused.
