STATE GOVT. SHOULD RELEASE SPECIAL PACKAGE TO KODAGUMadikeri july 10 The Karnataka Govt. should announce special package for the overall development of kodagu District-urged M.. Veerappa Moily the ex. Chief Minister. The Nanjundappa Commission report should not be considered while releasing funds to Kodagu as the district has lowest population and the necessary benefits are deceived. Moily who is also the Chairman of the Central reservation study commission was talking to press at Sudarshan Guest house on his arrival here. The Govt should release funds to Kodagu on the basis of the district’s geographical conditions and environment and the Nanjundappa commission report should not be followed here- he urged. Regarding the Hydro Electric projects in kodagu , he suggested to conduct the detail survey to study the pros and cons of the project. The affects on environment, and nature should be considered before implementing such p[projects in Kodagu- he suggested. Regarding the reduction of an assembly seat in Kodagu as per the Kuldeep Singh report he told the commission will be approached to reconsider the matter, The central reservation study commission will submit its’ report to the Govt. Before the next August he disclosed. When asked about the performance of the preset Coalition Govt. in the state Moily told the serious allegation against the Chief Minister by his coalition partner party M.L.A. should be investigated. The rulers are engaged in collecting illegal money from the miners, forest smugglers;. All these should be properly intevestigated Moily urged. The commission will submit report before next August 31st to Govt. after keenly studying the present condition Moily announced. ELEPHANT SAVEDMadikeri July 10 Forest department elephant at Dubare near Kushalnagar was saved out of the Cauvery river.The elephant gone for maizing in the field in the forest area near Dubare.The elephant “Vikram” tried to cross the river. The Chain on its leg surrounded a rock in the river and stopped its movement. The trampled elephant roared for help. A villager saw the endangering condition f the elephant at Kandi village near Hospatna and informed the forest department officials. The forest officials Shashidhar Achaiah,,Udayakumar immediately responded and tried to save the elephant with the help of an expert swimmer Ramakrishna. But it did not yielded. The river rafting team at Dubare tried their best but in vain. Then the camp elephants prashanth and Gopi were brought. Both the elephants intelligently lifted the chain surrounded to the rock and saved Vikram, their companion. .It took more than 4 hours for rescue operation. Photo: 1 .
