LANDSLIDE TRAGEDY; CMC TAKES ACTION;Madikeri July 7 The City municipal Council has issued notice to the owner of the house living on top of the hill, where the landslide happened few days ago. The commissioner Ramdas told that the owner Joshi was issued notice to stop extention of the house, stop using high power generator and to demolish the portions built without permission. He said that constructions were taken up without acquiring any permission from the CMC. The CMC will demolish the construction, if the owners disobey order, he clarified. Six persons from two families died few days ago as the land from above, from near Joshis house slid down, three to four hundred feet below. the district administration is now pressurising six more families living in the slopy hill. The residents are complaining that the district administration is forcing them to vacate their land and house without showing any alternative place to live. The Lions club has come farward to pay rupees five thousand each to the houses as they have to make immediate alternative arrrangements. Rupees five thousand each was distributed today through Baby Mathew, senior Lions member. 27 HOUSES DAMAGED AT SOMWARPET;Around 27 houses are damaged at Somwarpet taluk due to heavy rainfall, according to the tahasildar. Tahasildar Anil Vas told yesterday that rupees 38, 400 was already distributed to 15 families and remaining applications are being verifies. he said that the taluk did not receive much damge applications. TIGER MENACE RETURNS;A tiger has killed a buffalow at Choorikad near Nagarahole National park raising fear. The residents told forest officials that the tiger which had claimed the life of a person A couple of months ago has returned to the village creating fear of life. they said in a complaint to the officials that the tiger lifted the buffalow tied in the shed belonging to Kotrangada Pemmaiah and ate it. people witnessed the carcass yesterday. Forest officials paid a visit to the place. |
