POLICE SEIZE TIPPERS CARRYING WASTE;

Kutta police yesterday seized six tipper Lorries supplying hospital waste to Kodagu.

The residents of Kutta rounded up six Lorries loaded with stinking, hospital waste from a Kerala medical college. Tension mounted as the lorry inmates did not give proper explanation. Interference by police averted tension.

According to police, the hospital waste from Kerala medical college was to besupplied to one C.Bharath of Kutta for rupees three hundred a lorry.

Bharath told that he was unaware of the hospital waste and he had asked the lorry people to supply him vegetable waste to produce recycled manure.

Meanwhile, Nirmala Kodagu organization chief P.M.Aiyanna told that some kind of inter state racket is going on in the name of producing manure and police should investigate the matter. He also said that pollution control officials and Tahasildar would be called to verify the fact and investigate the matter.

A mother and a son are sentenced to rigorous imprisonment by the district and sessions court here on a dowry harassment case.

Judge Venktesh slapped a seven year RI and a fine of rupees one thousand to Janardhan and four year RI and a fine of rupees three thousand fine to his mother.

Way back in 1998, the duo were charged with harassing Saraswathi, wife of Janardan for dowry. Saraswathi committed suicide by consuming pesticides at Kanthur Murnad in her husbands house. Police arrested the duo and had registered a case.
