COMPLAINT TO VIGILANCE AGAINST HORTICULURE

Madikeri Dec.31 Govt. sanctions under beneficiary scheme was misused by the Horticultural department and this should be investigated by the vigilance department; a complaint should be sent in this regard-alleged Z.P. members in the kodagu Z.P. meeting here. Concurrently A resolution was passed .

Arun Machaiah, M.L.C raised the issue. The Govt. has released Rs. 2.5 crores through horticultural department as first installment. This should be used for the development of pineapple cultivation in Kodagu. The department should not deviate the fund for anthurium cultivation or for just development of nursery plant-opined Arun Machaiah, M.K.Nanajappa, V.M.Vijaya and Manu Muthappa. They alleged that Rs. 40 lakh was wasted for the purchase of ginger seeds by the department for high rate. Sundaramma suggested to distribute coconut plants to farmers instead of wasting the money for Coco and cashew nut plants.

The members discussed about the continuous irregularities in the health department. The Madikeri Thaluk Panchayath president Thalur kidshore Kumar expressed dissatisfaction over the scarcity of medicines in the primary health centers. Vrindababu supported. V.P.Shashidhar the standing committee chairman replied that in many hospitals shortage of doctors is observed. Some doctors are involved in corruption and the members should support him when stringent action is taken-Shashidhar requested.

Replying to a question by Lokeshkumar a member, the chairman assured that Rs. 12 lakh has been sanctioned for renovation of Sunticoppa hospital.

Z.P. members also discussed about the drinking water problem in the district. Manu Muthappa alleged that the Z.P. is directly releasing amount to Panchayaths for drinking water projects . During the implementation of the project the concerned officers, engineers and Panchayath heads are not at all consulting the concerned Z.P. members. They completely ignore them- Manu Muthappa told. Kishor Kumar voiced saying out of Rs. 78 lakh sanctioned under task force scheme the Madikeri Thaluk Panchayath has only received only Rs. 14 lakh so for. Where the remaining amount gone? He questioned. Member kalaiah also supported and disclosed that a drinking water scheme prepared before a year is still not implemented. CEO Sunder Naik, Z.P. President Ashok, M.L.A K.G.Bopaiah, Z.P. Vice president B.C.Neelamma and others were present.

PLATFORM READY FOR “HINDU SAMAJOTSAVA”

Madikeri Dec. 31 Platform is ready for Virat Hindu Samajotsava at Gonikoppal on the New Year’s Day. The venue at Bus stand is attractively decorated. 45 feet height poll is installed and the Hindu flag is hoisted. The huge banners are elevated in Bus stand buildings. The flags are put on the mobile towers also. The saffron cloths have been occupied in the venue centers. The town is decorated from the RMC yard.

Special buses are arranged for the villagers to attend the function. Continuous announcement could be heard. Police beat is beeped up in Virajpet Thaluk under the supervision of Venkataswamy, the DYSP.

The Utsav will commence with Gana Homa in Cauvery College grounds at 9.30 A.M. on 1st of January. The procession will start from RMC yard at 2 P.M. Chande from kerala, various folk dance teams from Shimoga, Mangalore and the native place are expected to participate in the procession.

The function will start at 4 P.M. Shanthamallikarjuna Swami of Arameri Mutt, Virajpet; Shri Jagadatmandaji of Ponnampet Shri Ramakrishnashram, Su.Ramanna of Bharathiya Vikasa Parishath, New Delhi will attend. The organizers Chodumada Sadhu Poonacha and kabbachira Prabhu Subramani and kayara Kiran have requested the general public to participate in large number.

Meanwhile, the secular front office bearers have opposed the Utsav. In a prèss conference here they cautioned the organizers that such move will create fear among the minorities. The show will affect harmony between the communities- the front alleged. They opposed the participation of JDS workers and also the silent attitude of congress leaders in the district. The Utsav will create fear in the minds of minorities they analyzed. Instead of conducting such communal functions it is better to fight against the Govt’ s recent order disputing the Kodagu Jamma lands they opined. The press conference was attended by A.K.Subbaiah, and K.R.Vidyadhar-advocates, Durgaprasad, Govindappa, H.K.Jagadish, Kunhi Abdulla, Abubakar, Allaranda Vittal, Neravanda Umesh and others.
