TIGER MENACEMadikeri Dec. 28 Tiger menace repeated at Yavakapadi village in Napoklu. Dead bodies of several cows and buffaloes are seen daily in the surrounding area. The animals moving for maizing are found dead and are not returned to their place. Latha, the daughter of Bopaiah of Yavakapadi village was stunned to see the tiger moving near the house two days back. As usual the complaints and information to the forest department will not yield any result due to their lethargic response-says villagers. PROTEST AGAINST HOSPITAL IRREGULARITIESMadikeri Dec. 28 CPIM, DYFI, Labour Unions and women organisations jointly protested against the irregularities in Virajpet Govt. hospital. The agitators moved in a procession in Virajpet town shouting slogans against the administrators. They gathered in front of the hospital. Lack of the basic amenities in the hospital for the patients, ignoring attitude by the hospital staff, collection of illegal amount from the poor patients and the polluted atmosphere are the main complaints by the agitators. The non appointment of gynecologist, E.N.T specialist, surgeons, lab technician, X-ray men has affected the proper treatment for the patients- the agitators alleged. The Thaluk thahasildar Shakunthala came to the spot and received the memorandum by the protestors. She assured all these problems will be attended and try to solve within a month’s time. The protest was led by I.R.Pramod, Peter Lobo, P.R.Bharath, Sukumar, Ibrahim Ali And Marija. PHOTO: Agitators Move In Virajpet Town. “YASHASWINI” FROM JANUARY 1STMadikeri Dec. 28 “Yashaswini” health insurance with some changes will be open for membership enrolment from the month of January 2007.The Govt. has sent the circular. Some changes are made compared to last year’s scheme. During the disbursement of loans to the members, the insurance premium will be deducted. The new member from the undivided family is entitled to remit the premium after 6 months of becoming the member of the cooperative institution. Every member of the family can pay the premium separately and afterwards can enjoy the benefits. The married son, daughter in-law, daughter or even the grand children have the opportunity. If at a time more than 5 members enroll they will get a concession of 15% in the payment. Compared to previous years, there is differentiation in payment mode The matured persons should have paid Rs. 120 and the children Rs. 60. Now it has been generalized with the minimum payment of Rs. 120 for all age group.. For the maintenance the cooperative societies are empowered to collect Rs. 10 from each beneficiaries. The aged persons above 75 years could not enroll. The insurance amount will b e paid to beneficiaries when needed for the treatment. In the state level 17 lakh people have enrolled under the “Yashaswini” scheme. This year it is aimed to increase the number to minimum 50 lakh. The enrolment starts from January 1st and ends on April 15th 2007.The list of hospitals having the treatment facilities under the scheme will be announced on May 15th. |
