STATE LEVEL KODAVA MELA AT A VILLAGE;

Madikeri December 21, 2006

A state level Kodava Mela would be held in the remote village of Kodagu, Surlabbi for two days on 24th and 25th.

Chairman of the state Kodava Academy, Ulliyada Dotty Povaiah disclosed this in a press conference and said that the reason for choosing the remote village is to attract the attention of the government towards it. Surlabbi is the most neglected village in Kodagu with barely any facilities.

Dotty Poovaiah stated that the four entrances to the Mela venue would be named after Field Marshal Cariappa, General Thimmaiah and Goddess Cauvery and Igguthappa. The ground would be named after Nadikerianda Chinnappa.
