RS.4.08 CRORE UNDER NATIONAL HORTICULTURE MISSION;

The government has allocated rupees 4.08 lakh for Horticulture Mission Scheme in Kodagu.

In an exclusive interview to this correspondent, state director of Horticulture, Dr.G.K.Vasanthkumar stated that an action plan for the above amount is sanctioned for the year 2006 – 07.

The plan includes development of agriculture crops like fruits, vegetables, cash crops, flouriculture, land and irrigation equipments. Meanwhile, he also informed that rupees thirty lakhs is released to erect musical fountain at Rajas seat at Madikeri. Assistant director Medappa was also present.

KODAVA NAMME AT DELHI;

Kodagu Kodavathakk parishath had organized a cultural programme at Delhi, yesterday.

Addressing the programme, president of Delhi Karnataka Sanga president Purushottam said that a Kodava programme is being organized by the Sangha for the first time in its 57 years history.

President of the Parishath, Ajjinikanda Mahesh lauded the efforts of Karnataka Sangha and Kodava samaj Delhi in organizing the programme. MP Prema Kalappa released the Kodava Version of Pattople palame and called upon the Kodava community to strive to preserve the culture.

Nadikeriayanda Chinnappa addressed the gathering and expressed happiness by stating that a cultural troupe is performing in Delhi for the first time. Air Marshal (Rtd.) Chengappa and MP Prema Kalappa were felicitated on the occasion. Manager of the Oriental Insurance Company Anil Perera and Lt.General P.N.Bopanna addressed the gathering.

Ajjinikanda Mahesh presided over.
