SADANANDA GOWDA WELCOMED;

The re elected state president of Bharatiya Janatha Party, Sadananda Gowda was warmly welcomed at Koppa gate today by the party workers.

Workers led by former MLA Appachu ranjan and taluk president S.B.Bharath Kumar and others garlanded Gowda at the gate and took him out in a procession at Somwarpet.

Sadananda Gowda said that he will organize the party by touring all districts.

GOVERNMENT TESTING PATIEMNCE;

MLC Arun machjaiah said that the government is testing the patience of people of Kodagu by altering the Janmma right issue.

Addressing the “Puttari Oororme” function organized here at Kodava samaj yesterday, Machaiah stated that the problem of Jamma land does not harm only Kodavas and it is a issue which should be tackled by all.

Machaiah regretted that the present generation show no fighting spirit against the burning issues. He called upon the people and other organizations to fight unitedly against the Jamma decision which denies right over the land to its own owner. It is the question of survival to the district, he cautioned. He also regretted that an advocate from Kodagu has filed a writ in the government insisting on the implementation of Jamma order, much against the wishes of the people. He opined that problems haunting the district like High tension line, Jamma etc cannot be solved through court and law should be amended to find a solution. Arun machaiah assured in the meeting that he will donate rupees two lakh to the general thimmaiah school run by Kodava samaj from his quota.

Kodava samaj president Suresh Chengappa spoke on the occasion and said that celebration of festivals and observing other traditional activities are being neglected in rural areas. He said that the Kodava samajas are striving to protected the vanishing culture. Vice president M.B.Erappa, secretary P.P.Pemmaiah and others were present.

BRAHMINS ASSOCIATION DISTRIBUTES AMOUNT;

The district Brahmins association here distributed cash prize to talented students and needy. In a function held here yesterday, president Krishnamurthy distributed about rupees 43,000 to the talented students thriving in different subjects and classe. Amount was also handed over to the poor students.

Meanwhile M.Mahabaleshwara Bhat, P.R.Srinivas, Namrutha Dinesh and Ramyashree were honoured for their achievemntin different fields.

Secretary Sharath Kumar proposed vote of thanks.
