HINDU CONVENTION AT GONICOPPAL;Madikeri December 11, 2006 The RSS district convenor Mani Uthappa has said that a Hindu convention to mark the centenary of Guruji M.S.Golvalkar would be held on January first at Gonicoppal. He stated that a crowd of around fifty thousand will gather on the said day and a mammoth procession would be take out in the main street. The convention is organized to inspire members to take part in the All India convention to be held in the month of February. He stated that Arameri Kalanchakeri Mutt pontiff, Shantha Mallikarjuna Swamiji will be the honorary president and different committees were formed to conduct the convention in a peaceful manner. LORRY WITH PEPPER DISAPPEARS;A LORRY CARRYING PEPPER WORTH RUPEES SIXTEEN LAKH IS MSSING, ACCORDING TO Siddapur police. Merchants Umesh Pai and Rajesh from Mysore have lodged a complaint with the police that they bought Pepper from Basheer Haji of Nellihudikeri near Madikeri during last month and sent it to Mumbai. The lorry should have reached destination by November 27 and it never reached Mumbai. The pepper was supposed to have delivered to Spices Ind company in Mumbai. The district police paid a visit and conducted inquiry. They found out that no such lorry has crossed any check posts till Mumbai. Though the lorry was booked by a company at Hassan, the owners now state that they do not own a lorry with the number the pepper was sent. Interestingly, no complaint was lodged by the lorry owners about missing. The district crime branch has taken up investigation now. BORDER TALUKAS TO GET MORE BENEFIT;Chief Minister Kumar Swamy has said that border talukas will get special grants. Addressing the valedictory function of Kannada Nudi – Gadi- Jagrauthi Jatha at Bangalore yesterday, the CM clarified that all the border talukas will receive grants. Reacting to the observation that Kodagu is neglected in Nanjundappa report, Kumar Swamy said that it is a wrong conception and Kodagu will definitely receive the attention of the government. Representing Kodagu, drama artist Addanda Kariappa cautioned the government that the peace loving people of Kodagu might turn violent if the government continues its step motherly attitude. He listed out the hurdles like building hydel projects, installing high tension lines, curbing the rights over Jamma land etc which are working like fire inside ash. He warned that the people who were opposing separate Kodagu movement earlier might give a second thought to take it up. Mukyamantri Chandru and litterateurs cautioned the government that Kodagu might fall apart from Karnataka if the government fails to respond immediately. |
